One of the best known indigenous Australian artists is Albert Namatjira, he was a Western Arrernte-speaking artist from the MacDonnell Ranges and instead of traditional style paintings, he chose to paint in Western-Style, primarily landscapes which made him a celebrated pioneer of contemporary Indigenous art in the 1950s as well as the most famous Indigenous Australian of his generation.

Tow Row is an exhibition deeply connected to concealed histories and the significance of object along with the power of memory and loss, specifically for the Aboriginal people from the Waanyi homeland along the Brisbane River. Using woven nets which are a traditional fishing tool among Aboriginals in the area, Judy Watson acknowledges the traditional owners of the site and their everyday fishing activities.

Export Empire: Japan and the modern world

Creative and artistic innovation from the Meji era. This exhibition explores an era of transformation that took place in Japan. In their art as well as their culture which coincided with changes within the political and industries as well. These changes forged the Japan we know today. This era is known as the Meji era which spanned the 1868 – 1912 and it was the emergence of innovation, creation and extravagant exports for Western tastes. It created a craze for Japanese art as well as culture.
