Sweetheart: Museum icon
Sweetheart, a large male saltwater crocodile, is a legend in Northern Territory’s recent history. He is notoriously famous for several attacks on dinghies in one of Darwin’s popular fishing spot. After safety concerns were raised in 1979, the decided to capture him and transfer him to a local crocodile farm, but he drowned and died after becoming entangled with a sunken log when the Parks and Wildlife Commission of the Northern Territory attempted to sedate and capture him so as to transfer crocodile farm.
